Ideas for Thanksgiving Feast Leftovers

October 02, 2023

Once Thanksgiving is over and the guests have left and the dishes are all clean, the holiday doesn’t have to be over. It’s now time for the second, and some might say the best, part of a Turkey dinner – the leftovers!

Over the years we have collected a few tips and traditions that will bring back that comfort of the Holiday.

As soon as possible after serving, place your leftover turkey meat and stuffing, unwrapped in your refrigerator for several hours to cool. Then remove meat from frame, wrap in saran or plastic wrap, and keep stuffing separate. Put back in your refrigerator or freezer.

Your Turkey Frame Will Make A Fine Soup!

Turkey Soup

You will need:

Turkey frame, including leftover turkey meat, raw giblets, (legs, and wings if leftover)
5 quarts water
1 large onion (diced or whole)
3 large potatoes (diced)
1 bay leaf seasonings to taste
carrots & celery

Place raw giblets in water, bring to boil. Add raw vegetables to boiling water. Bring to boil again. Skim. Add turkey frame, and turkey meat to pot. Season. Cook on low flame in covered pot for two hours. Remove carcass and serve piping hot. (May be frozen.)
